Morality and Ethics

Morality is having and living principles of right and wrong. Basic morality condemns murder, adultery, lying and stealing. However, morality evolves with each society and differs noticeably in societies. One culture finds moral a man with several wives and another immoral. One culture finds moral women as property of men and another immoral.

The philosophy of morality is ethics, which explores morality in society. Kant based ethics on duty and obligation, while Aristotle based on virtue. Ethics are now a large part of life. For example, there are businesses ethics, academic ethics and legal ethics.  Natural law focuses moral and legal theories, and religion morality and ethics.
